All the Beauty and the Bloodshed (Neon, 2022)
Venice Film Festival Golden Lion Winner; Academy Award® nominee for Best Documentary Feature
“A major work of anti-pharma protest art.”
All The Beauty And The Bloodshed is an epic, emotional and interconnected documentary about internationally renowned artist and activist Nan Goldin’s personal fight to hold the Sackler family accountable for their role in the opioid overdose crisis.
Campaign Summary
The campaign raised more than $130K for harm reduction partners, uplifted the advocacy efforts of New York City’s overdose prevention centers, and pressured holdout institutions to reject the Sackler family’s reputation laundering.
Campaign support for the harm reduction movement helped result in Oxford cutting ties with the Sackler family, Harvard reviewing the name of its Sackler Art Museum, the MAT Act being signed into law, the opioid reversal drug Narcan receiving approval for over-the-counter sale, and models of treatment grounded in harm reduction gaining additional cultural capital.
All the Beauty and the Bloodshed opened to great critical acclaim, becoming the second documentary ever to win a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival as well as earning an Academy Award® nomination for Best Documentary Feature, among many other accolades.
Our impact campaign supported a movement around opioid overdose prevention by uplifting advocacy efforts for overdose prevention centers, raising funds for harm reduction partners, and pressuring holdout institutions like Oxford and Harvard to reject the Sackler family’s reputation laundering.

We worked alongside our non-profit partner, P.A.I.N., to rebuild their website to optimize donations and to allow users to easily access tools to contact legislators in support of harm reduction policies. We also developed tools to track opioid settlement funds, launched PAIN’s first email newsletter to streamline communications with their members, and produced an “impact video” highlighting and summarizing PAIN’s work, which they can use for future fundraising purposes.
